Freestanding Cat Scratching Post – Standard & Tall

Give your cat a dedicated place to stretch, scratch and play with this practical freestanding cat scratching post. Its simple vertical design provides an appealing scratching surface while taking up relatively little floor space, making it suitable for bedrooms, living areas, hallways and other indoor spaces.

Scratching is a normal and important part of feline behaviour. Cats scratch to maintain their claws, stretch their muscles, mark familiar areas and release energy. Providing a suitable scratching post can help redirect this natural behaviour away from sofas, carpets, curtains and other household furnishings.

The upright post is wrapped in a textured scratching material that gives cats a satisfying surface to grip with their claws. A broad square base helps keep the post supported during normal use, while the soft-covered base provides a comfortable surface around the scratching area.

Also includes a hanging pompom toy that moves when touched, adding an extra element of batting and interactive play.

How to Use

Choosing the right size

Select a scratching post that allows your cat to adopt a comfortable scratching position.

Kittens and smaller cats may be comfortable using the standard version. Adult cats that enjoy stretching upwards will generally benefit from the taller post.

A scratching post should be tall enough for the cat to extend its front legs without immediately reaching the top. Larger or long-bodied cats may require a taller or heavier scratching post.

Positioning the scratcher

Place the scratcher on a flat, stable and level indoor surface.

Useful locations include:

  • Near a favourite sleeping area
  • Beside furniture your cat already scratches
  • Close to a doorway or commonly used route
  • In an area where your cat regularly plays or relaxes

Avoid placing the scratcher in an isolated area that your cat rarely visits.

You can encourage initial interest by placing familiar toys nearby or rewarding your cat when it uses the scratching post. Do not force your cat’s paws against the post.

Assembly

Some basic assembly may be required to connect the post securely to the base.

Follow the instructions supplied with the product and tighten all fittings before allowing your cat to use it. Recheck the fittings regularly, as repeated scratching and movement may gradually loosen them.

Cleaning and care

Remove loose fur and surface debris using a vacuum cleaner or soft brush.

Small marks on the textile-covered areas may be cleaned using a slightly damp cloth. Avoid soaking the post, base or sisal covering, as excessive moisture may weaken the materials or affect the internal structure.

Allow the scratcher to dry completely before returning it to use.

Safety information

Place the scratching post on a stable, level surface where it cannot create a trip hazard.

Check the base, post, fittings, scratching material and hanging toy regularly. Tighten any loose fittings before use.

Remove and replace the scratcher if:

  • The post becomes loose or unstable
  • The base becomes cracked, bent or damaged
  • Staples, screws or internal components become exposed
  • The sisal becomes severely detached
  • The hanging cord or pompom becomes loose or damaged

Supervise initial use, particularly with kittens or cats that may chew loose fibres or play attachments.

This product is intended for indoor pet use only.
