Sunley Gardens Plastic Seed Feeder

Welcome more wild birds into your garden with the Emma Gardens Plastic Seed Feeder. This lightweight hanging feeder provides a simple and convenient way to offer sunflower seeds and suitable wild-bird seed mixes throughout the year.

The feeder features a clear central seed chamber, allowing you to check the remaining food level without opening or removing it. Multiple feeding openings and landing perches give visiting birds a comfortable place to stop and feed, making it suitable for attracting a variety of smaller garden species.

Its compact 23 cm design works well in gardens, patios and other suitable outdoor spaces where a large feeder may be unnecessary. The feeder can be suspended from a secure branch, feeding station or suitable garden hook using its hanging attachment.

A removable top makes the feeder straightforward to open and refill. The covered chamber helps shelter the seed during normal outdoor use, although the feeder should still be positioned in a reasonably protected location during prolonged periods of heavy rain.

Suitable feed

This feeder is primarily intended for sunflower seeds and free-flowing wild-bird seed mixes.

Avoid using wet, sticky or heavily compacted food, as this may restrict the movement of seed through the feeder. Very fine seeds may also escape through openings designed for larger grains.

Always use fresh wild-bird food from a clean, dry pack. Do not place mouldy, damp or spoiled seed inside the feeder.

How to fill and install

Remove or open the top section and add a suitable quantity of fresh seed. Do not force seed tightly into the chamber, as it should remain loose enough to move towards the feeding openings.

Close the lid securely before hanging the feeder.

Suspend it from a strong branch, feeding station or outdoor hook capable of supporting the filled feeder. Choose a location that gives birds a clear approach and provides some protection from severe weather.

Position the feeder away from areas where cats or other predators can hide and approach unnoticed. It should also be placed where fallen seed can be removed easily.

Feeding guidance

Check the feeder regularly and refill it when required.

Only add an amount of seed that is likely to remain fresh. During wet or humid weather, smaller and more frequent refills may help reduce the risk of food becoming damp or spoiled.

Provide fresh, clean drinking and bathing water nearby where possible.

Cleaning and care

Clean the feeder regularly to help prevent old food, waste and droppings from building up around the feeding openings.

Empty all remaining seed before washing. Separate removable components carefully and clean them using warm water and a suitable wildlife-safe cleaning product.

Rinse every part thoroughly and allow the feeder to dry completely before adding fresh seed. Never place new seed into a damp feeder.

Remove old, wet, compacted or mouldy seed immediately. Increase the cleaning frequency if several birds are using the feeder or during damp weather.

Safety information

Check the feeder, hanging attachment, lid, chamber and perches regularly for damage.

Stop using the feeder if the plastic becomes cracked, sharp or heavily damaged, or if the hanging attachment can no longer support it securely.

Install the feeder where it cannot fall onto people, pets, vehicles or fragile items.

This product is intended for feeding suitable wild birds outdoors. It is not a toy and should be kept away from young children.
